Don L. Ellis Selected as Southeast Louisiana Council's New Scout Executive
Steve Hemperley, Council President of the Southeast Louisiana Council is pleased to announce the selection of Don L. Ellis as our new Scout Executive. Don will begin his new position effective March 1, 2010.
Don will be joining us after serving for four years as Scout Executive of the Stonewall Jackson Area Council headquartered in Waynesboro, Virginia.
Don began his Scouting career as an Associate District Executive in Raleigh, NC in 1979. He has served in various professional positions for more than 30 years:
Senior District Scout Executive in Orlando, Florida
Senior District Scout Executive in Charlotte, North Carolina
Field Director in Charlotte, North Carolina
Director of Field Service in Little Rock, Arkansas
Finance Director in Raleigh, North Carolina
Development Director in Raleigh, North Carolina
He is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. Don has served on several regional and national committees during his 30 year tenure with the Boy Scouts of America and has an extensive background in all phases of Scouting.
His wife Daphne has one son, Brandon. Brandon’s wife’s name is Aleisha and they have three children; Arin McKenzie – 10 months, Michael – 3 ˝ years old and Amber – 9 years old.
