Advancement
In the Four Scouting Program Phases

Advancement is one of the methods used to achieve the aims of Scouting in all four phases of the Scouting program (Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, and Venturing).  The aims of Scouting are character building, citizenship training, and physical and mental fitness.

A good advancement program in the council requires cooperation between the council and the district advancement committees, the commissioner staff, and the units they serve.

Our Council is charged with the important responsibility of carrying out the rules and regulations, policies and procedures of the National Council, Boy Scouts of America within our geographic area.  Please note that ONLY items produced by the National Council, Boy Scouts of America may be used in the Advancement process in our Council.  In this way we will ensure that the standards set by the National Council, Boy Scouts of America for the achievement of the ranks in Scouting are the ONLY standards required of all.

Thank you for your consideration, time and help in this important effort…let’s continue to help our Scouts achieve…by following National Council policies and procedures at every step in the advancement process.

Sincerely,

David P. Leroux
